Rassie van der Dussen is in line for a first ODI cap after being called up to South Africa’s squad for the first two matches of the series against Pakistan, which begins on January 19 in Port Elizabeth. The batsman played two T20Is against Zimbabwe last year, but is yet to feature in the 50-over format.

Seamer Dane Paterson, meanwhile, has been recalled to the 14-man squad, as has Hashim Amla, who missed the most recent series in Australia towards the end of last year through injury. JP Duminy and Lungi Ngidi could not be considered because of injury.

South Africa ODI squad: Faf du Plessis (capt), Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Imran Tahir, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Dane Paterson, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dale Steyn, Rassie van der Dussen
